What is it all about?
Those already working in the private security industry require a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence to practise. Anyone holding a Door Supervision licence requires the Upskilling qualification to re-new their licence if they originally took the National Certificate for Door Supervisors. Successful completion of the course along with a satisfactory criminal records history will enable an individual to renew their SIA Door Supervision Licence. The qualification consists of 2 units and is run over 2 days.

The Level 2 Award in Upskilling a Door Supervisor working within the Private Security Industry, is the qualification required by anyone who is currently working in the Private Security Sector who holds the Level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors. This qualification will entitle the individual to re-apply for a licence as a Door Supervisor and continue to undertake jobs from Door Supervision to Security Guarding.
How will I be assessed?
The Level 2 Award in Upskilling a Door Supervisor working within the Private Security Industry is assessed through the completion of a multiple choice examination and a practical and theoretical assessment. The multiple choice examination is marked externally and practical and theoretical assessments are internally assessed. This qualification is registered on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at Level 2 and holds a credit value of 3.
