What is it all about?
The Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work meets the requirements for training emergency first-aiders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first aid needs assessment. Topics covered include: The role and responsibilities of a first aider, being able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally, being able to manage a casualty with external bleeding and being able to manage a casualty with a minor injury.
Is it suitable for me?
This qualification is aimed at those who wish to become emergency first aiders in the workplace for the purposes of the Health & Safety First Aid Regulations 1981. Learners must be able to actively participate in undertaking CPR assessments and have literacy skills equivalent to Level 1. Once this qualification is achieved it must be renewed every 3 years to remain valid.
How will I be assessed?
The Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is assessed by completion of a practical assessment of competence along with a short open response knowledge assessment, where learners are required to provide a short response to a prescribed series of questions. This qualification is registered on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at Level 3 and has a credit value of 1.
