What is it all about?

When the Licensing Act 2003 was introduced, a new post called the Designated Premises Supervisor was created. This role is more commonly known as the “licensee” or “landlord/lady”. This qualification addresses the roles and responsibilities of the Designated Premises Supervisor and the day-to-day issues that may be faced whilst running a licensed premises. This qualification is delivered by industry specialists who have extensive and varied experience working in the hospitality trade.

Is it suitable for me?

The Level 2 Award for Designated Premises Supervisors is aimed at anyone who is an existing Personal Licence Holder interested in becoming or already carrying out the role of Designated Premises Supervisor and those who became the Designated Premises Supervisor of Licensed Premises through Grandfather’s rights. The qualification is designed for those who are working in the following licensed premises: Pubs & Bars, Sports & Social Clubs, Hotels & Restaurants, Nightclubs & Entertainment Establishments, Off-Licenses and Supermarkets & Convenience Stores.

How will I be assessed?

The Level 2 Award for Designated Premises Supervisors is assessed via a multiple-choice examination that is conducted at the end of the course. The Level 2 Award for Designated Premises Supervisors is registered on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at Level 2 and holds a credit value of 1.
